How to ace your next race

Just interviewed Steve Way for Trail Running mag, the Commonwealth Games 10th marathon runner who used to be almost 17 stone and smoke 20 a day – he’s getting into off-road running…read all about it in next issue on sale 6 Nov. Anyway, so he gave me some absolutely FANTASTIC advice for giving your absolute all on race day.

Steve before 2007 and then now! Read the next issue of Trail Running mag (out 6 Nov) to find out the outrageous thing Steve does immediately after every one of his target key races!

Simply think about all the hard work you’ve put in prior to the race – the early mornings, the missed social occasions, the lost hours spent making a dent in your sofa in front of the telly, and think to yourself, “It would be absolutely ridiculous if I didn’t give this race my all just because I couldn’t be bothered for a couple of hours during the race.”

So if you’re racing this weekend, say this to yourself, and GO FOR IT!
