Sorry Tony the Hill, I sacked you off yesterday morning in favour of an hour and a half’s more sleep and hit the grubby, muddy paths of Fineshade Woods last night instead.

I wish I could say it didn’t mean anything to me, but it was amazing! The last time I ran that same hill (let’s call him Bob the Hill) I was chugging along like an Eddie Stobbart lorry. Now, with my 6-months of leg strengthening from coach Rory Coleman‘s training plan, I was actually running and jogging up, at least like a sturdy old Ford Fiesta – it’s hard to explain but I could actually feel my thigh muscles in action, being strong and powerful. It was a great feeling and makes me want to visit Bob the Hill more often. Sorry Tony, it’s not you, it’s me. See earlier post for how Tony the Hill made early morning Thursday hill repeat sessions much more enjoyable.

FORD-Fiesta--1999-2000-

After 6-months on Rory Coleman’s training plan, I can now run and jog up hills! I’m still steady, but imagine what I’d be like after another 6-months…?

Before coach Rory Coleman's training plan I went uphill like an Eddie Stobart lorry. I got there, but I was slow and steady.

So, Coastal Challenge Costa Rica here I come – that was my last hill session before I fly on Wednesday. I can’t wait, especially as something that makes me go “Phew!” has just arrived in the post…
