Felt super humanly strong after The Coastal Challenge in Costa Rica, had rested for a week what with staying the weekend down in Drake Bay then flying home. So, naturally, what did I do? I killed it at running club, ran a fast 5 miler on Sat, an even faster 10 miler on Sun, then tried to replicate my speed at run club Tues and fell apart half way round in low drop shoes that set my achilles off. Then I felt exhausted and had to lie horizontal for a while as everything caught up with me. My right knee joint also hurts. And my foot. So I couldn’t do run club on Tues. I ALWAYS do run club! V sad.

Cycling is my saviour while I have running injuries - doesn't strain the Achilles or put impact on the knees :) VERY happy

But then discovered that road biking steadily doesn’t hurt anything! So I’ve been out Wed, Thurs, Fri, and today I’m excited about my ‘Tour de Stamford’. Planning to cycle there for delish crepes at Cafe Chocolat (you have to earn deliciousness don’t you think?) then to Braceborough for a sports massage with Jon Sheehan, then aaaaaalllll the way back to Warmington. So that should be about 3.5-4hours of cycling there.

Really excited about cycling keeping me fit for running while these niggles clear up, it’s great to mix it up a bit. Going to try a steady trail 10 miler tomorrow round Waverley Woods. Very steady, taking people with me to make sure I don’t try and leg it!

Am also v v v v vvvvvvvv excited about a new race coming up for 2016. Like TCC it is multi-day, but MUCH more up my street in terms of climate. The Cape Wrath Ultra in Scotland, whohoo! I had a closer look today and it is actually 8 DAYS!!!!!! Eek! Really really really want to do it, would be a fantastic way to see Scotland.

The Cape Wrath Ultra, May 2016, 8 days across the Scottish highlands from Fort William, perfect way to see millions of mountains at once! Better get training...
