Ultra runner Rory Bosio is known for her incredibly positive vibes and all round fun attitude to long distance trail running. Rory won UTMB (Ultra Tour du Mont Blanc) in 2013 and 2014. She believes mental strength is one of the key factors to her success – here’s how she does it: including pain management, mantras, jokes, music, how to get through low points, the importance of nutrition to keeping morale up, her music-based nutrition strategy, and the biggest mistake she thinks trail and ultra runners make.
Thank you so much to Rory for this excellent interview ahead of the 2019 UTMB. Rory won this 171km (105 mile) race with 10,000m ascent around Mont Blanc in 2013 and 2014. Having campaigned for a top 10 of women to be recognised by the race back then (there were only prizes for the top 5 women but top 10 men at that time), it was great to see Rory on the podium in 8th place this year. Rory is sponsored by Jaybird ear buds for runners in 2019.
