How to do the Bob Graham Round while living in the south of England (nowhere near mountains!)

Tonight’s live chat (6:30pm Wed) was another very interesting one. We had a very nice chap called Bob Diggles who recently launched a podcast called the Bob Graham Sounds which I have been really enjoying on my long runs while testing out various running headphones recently.

The Bob Graham Round (BG or BGR) is a 42 summit 65 mile challenge in the Lake District, UK – Kilian Jornet broke local runner Billy Bland’s famous 1982 record on it in July 2018.

The Bob Graham Sounds podcast is about Bob and his friends’ journey training for this epic challenge, with Bob living down south and having to travel to find decent hills to practice on. Find out all about his training from Portsmouth, fitting it in with family, his gear and nutrition, and the main advice he gathered along the way.

He interviews some superstars along the way like Nicky Spinks, Ricky Lightfoot, Rickey Gates and, in a freak non-rhyming first name incident, Richard Askwith who wrote the seminal book on the Bob Graham – Feet in the Clouds (scroll down for link). If only Richard Askwith’s nickname was Dickie.

Bob also mentions technique coach Helen Hall’s book as she helped him a great deal along the way – Even with your shoes on: Discover your natural path to smooth, efficient, enjoyable running
